The Seattle Labor Chorus: Songs for Working People

Created for the 1997 Northwest Folklife Festival, the Seattle Labor Chorus was so well received and the members had so much fun that they decided to keep it going. As of 2006, the chorus has about 50 members and their black shirts and colorful scarves have become a familiar sight around the region. The chorus has performed at labor heritage festivals in San Fransisco and Washington DC and won Best Choral Performance at the 2004 Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition and fund raiser for the Pike Market Senior Center; but by far their most important work is in the union halls and on the picket lines.
